The capital city of Jiangsu province was the largest city in the world from 1358 to 1425 and was the capital of many dynasties. Famous for its canal and Yuhuatai Memorial Park of Revolutionary Martyrs.

Lingyin temple

The Buddhist temple of the Chan sect located north-west of Hangzhou was founded in 328 AD during the Eastern Jin dynasty by an Indian monk. It’s a breathtaking giant complex which takes easily half a day to explore. An absolute highlight of Hangzhou.

Alea iacta est – China it is

I decided to give up my life in Germany and to move to China. A world full of possibilities  – new chances, a culture to discover, people to meet, mountains to climb, food to taste, cities to visit, roads to travel and dare to dream a new dream.

Chinese Dream

Chairman Xi called upon young people to dare to dream, work assiduously to fulfill the dreams and contribute to the revitalization of the nation.  A revitalization of a modern  Marxism–Leninism with Chinese characteristics.

It reminded me of my China trip one year earlier where I found a society waking up from a long sleep but still dreaming of a prosperous red future. I wish the great people’s republic of China all the best to fulfill their dreams.

Return to Paradise

I settled down in paradise on earth – Hangzhou. The greatest city of the world. Let go of yesterday. Let today be a new beginning and be the best that you can, and you’ll get to where fate wants you to be. There is not better start into a new life than having a hotpot with new friends.

Madeira

Madeira is a Portuguese archipelago situated in the north Atlantic Ocean visited by one million tourists – three times its population – every year. It’s a garden Eden full of exotic fruits and  paths through dense untouched mountain forests.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote is a Spanish island, the easternmost of the autonomous Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Born through fiery eruptions large parts of the island are covered with solidified lava streams and extravagant rock formations. A volcanic origin  Island of Eternal Spring, best to be traveled by renting a car. Endless beaches, blue ocean, quiet cities and stunning sunsets. A perfect place to rest.

Hangzhou – Paradise above, Hangzhou below.

I traveled far and long to all corners of the world, but it is the first time I truly fall in love. Hangzhou, a city where love abides and friendship is a guest, is surely home, and home, sweet home for there the heart can rest. It is recognized as one of the seven ancient capitals of China and was the largest city in the world from 1180 to 1315 and from 1348 to 1358. Hangzhou is full of ancient treasures and modern wonders.  Westlake is located in the middle of the city and offers a peaceful place to rest which hasn’t changed much since countless Emperor’s, poets, philosophers, artists, politicians or simple citizens walked along its shores since ancient times to enjoy its breathtaking beauty. Behind the Westlake, local farmers cultivate the world famous Longjing tea. I had the pleasure to taste it and since that moment never wanted to try another tea.  Further behind the hills, the vast Xixi wetlands invite to a boat ride along its many canals through an untouched ecological habitat. Hangzhou marks the end of my China journey. Never would I have known what a harmonious society in perfect harmony between ancient culture and modernity I would find during my travel. A truly treasure in the world and next holiday destination for everyone. We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.

Beijing – The future capital of the world

People’s Republic of China’s capital is a stunning display of the future. A perfect combination of China’s rich and ancient culture and China’s growing prosperity and modernity. It is blessed with unbelievable cultural monuments: Forbidden city, Temple of Heaven, The Great Wall at Badaling, Summer palace, and countless more.
